I really wish that they would've gone into Ellla's past a lot more in the series. They kind of hint at her father not being very nice to her mother. In fact, John Dee was a real person! Seriously. For more info on him go to: altreligion.about.com/library/texts/bl_johndee.htm I also found this information at http://www.wikipedia.org: [glow=red,2,300]"Dee was married twice and had eight children. Details of his first marriage are sketchy, but is likely to have been from 1565 to his wife's death in around 1576. From 1577 to 1601 Dee kept a meticulous diary.[5] In 1578 he married the twenty-three year old Jane Fromond (Dee was fifty-one at the time). She was to be the wife that Kelley claimed Uriel had demanded that he and Dee share, and although Dee complied for a while this eventually caused the two men to part company.[5] Jane died during the plague in Manchester in 1605, along with a number of his children: Theodore is known to have died in Manchester, but although no records exist for his daughters Madinia, Frances and Margaret after this time, Dee had by this time ceased keeping his diary.[4] His eldest son was Arthur Dee"[/glow] Does anyone else find this interesting?

Yes. Very interesting but we have covered this before somewhere else on the boards. You did all that work too! I'm sure you have started another lengthy thread though........

John Dee was an alchemist and talked to angels through crystals. They told him to do some wife swaping. He saw visions of the end of days, but it never happened and he was angry about it. It is interesting that many of the things Ella does resembles medievil alchemy. As for St. John's Wort, there was an old Celtic tradition that it wards off witches and powers of darkness. I don't think its effects in Hex are from its medical value, but from Celtic traditions. Ella did have an attitude toward families and personal relationships.
I have heard that Ella was not treated with respect as she was illigetimate and this was one thing that made her vengeful.
Then there is the story of the fairies Arianna and Orachia, but that is another story.
Hex seems to have a lot of mixture of alchemy and Celtic folklore in it.
That is a brief summary of the previous posts. I personally find it very interesting.

That's Rocky's prediction gone. I reckon we'll make three pages here.
I didn't know anything about John Dee until he was mentioned here previously.

Hey, please carry on.......I'm not trying to kill the thread...LOL.... And I guess there's more members on here now that missed the original showing of HEX...
I was just being sarcastic when I said the thread would stop at two, as we know every thread continues well beyond the title suggests...nearly all way off topic. {;-)

Always assume everything Rocky says is sarcastic unless proven otherwise. There are always people who want to find out about John Dee.

Jonathan was born in Wales, and discovered his psychic abilities so long ago he can’t remember exactly how it all started. He has been a professional astrologer, Tarot card Reader and clairvoyant since the 1970s, and has worked all over the UK as well as in the USA. Besides his natural psychic abilities, Jonathan is also well recognised as a serious historian and mythologist. As it happens, Jon is a direct descendant of the Royal Astrologer and mathematician to Queen Elizabeth I, Dr John Dee of old. We don’t know if our Jon is as acquainted with magic as his ancestry may hint, but we are very nice to him just in case... >>>>>>>>>>more......... www.zampub.com/html/jonathan_dee.html
