We can't say anything nowadays. Most words and phrases have another meaning. When I was at school 'gay' meant being happy and cheerful.

Have to be careful what you say. One time you couldn't call anybody black. It had to be African or West Indian, etc. Then people would get upset being called African when they weren't from Africa, so now we call them black again. Jeeeeeeeeeez.

That never made sense to me. Because Africa has white people so technically a white person can go running around saying "I'm an African American!" & piss people off.
